Sylvia Sword grew up in Bristol, Vermont. She began acting and playwriting in high school with her student theatre group, Thin Budget Productions, performed in the high school musical every year, and wrote plays with the Vermont Young Playwrights Project. Her plays have been performed through this project at Vermont Stage Company.

Sylvia went on to pursue a degree in Theatre Performance at the University of Vermont, where she studied many different areas of performance and discovered passions for Shakespeare, stage combat, and feminist theatre, among many others. She appeared on the stage in several department productions and graduated with her B.A. in May 2014. 

Since arriving in Boston in September 2014, she has had the privilege of working with several companies in the Boston area, including Magnificent Bastard Productions, Apollinaire Theatre Company, Open Theatre Project, and It's a Fiasco. In May 2016, Sylvia had the great honor to win the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Production (Fringe) with Apollinaire Theatre Company.
